Perfectly Imperfect

Dear Readers,

We have almost made it through the week! There is only one more day part of this week, then week seven of the challenge will start! Can you believe that!

Today I want to address a very important rule that I follow, which generally helps me overcome any sort of writer's block. It is a very simple principle which is this; right when you get an idea, write down the whole poem or most of it (including the idea) right away. I like to call this a brain dump. It doesn't matter whether or not you are using good words. What really matters is that you get everything that comes to you, on the paper. If you linger at phrasings you don't particularly like, words you need to replace, or even how many stanzas you want in the poem, you are going to get stuck and lose your creative flow. This is why I recommend writing everything down at once. If you can't write your ideas down right away, then the sooner the better.

Day Twenty Nine's Progress:

Today I added a few small words to the poem. I also changed some of the line breaks. I'm not exactly sure if the first part of the poem about the white perfume really connects with the second half. Maybe I should rephrase that part of the poem. For now, I think I'm going to leave it as it is and maybe even remove it. Another thing I am not sure of is how it ends. I really wanted this poem to have sort of a mysterious and dramatic ending but it isn't quite what I imagined it to be. I think I will work on the last few lines later today. If you have any suggestions or feedback for me, please let me know.

Is the challenge going well for you guys?
